Immediately I found Heather to be extremely helpful, both to myself specifically, and with regards voice and vocal technique generally. Her knowledge and understanding of the subject is beyond compare. Within the first 5 minutes of meeting her she had already isolated weaknesses in my vocal technique and set about correcting them. There is no faulting the efficiency and precision with which she works. Having studied SLS at home with various programmes I though myself to be quite au fait with the techniques, however I had missed many (what I considered to be) minute details which it became apparent were of huge importance. There is no real substitute for a one on one teacher like Heather.

I'm a singer song writer and SLS teacher from Israel and I can honestly say I owe most of my success to Heather Baker. She still helps me find my voice and my progress in the past few years is amazing, especially if I compare it to all the years I studied with a different technique and teachers who only damaged my abilities...even though 90% of our lessons are via SKYPE, I still get so much from each lesson and I'm so glad I found Heather and SLS. My teaching has also improved drastically and Heather is always there to help me develop my skills!

Heather has totally changed my perception
on my vocal ability...it is no longer a question of reaching
notes...it's about approaching notes in the correct way. I cannot
express in enough words how grateful I am for having met Heather
and having her train me...my vocal life has TOTALLY changed,

I started having singing lessons with Laura Adams at Heather Baker Singing Studios in Jan 2010. When I first starting my lessons I was very shy about singing in public and wasn’t very confident with my voice. Laura was very friendly when I went for my first lesson and allowed me to feel comfortable singing in front of her. Since having singing lessons my confidence in my singing voice has grown so much. Heather and Laura have helped me overcome one of my biggest fears of singing in public and I did my first performance at a family party and then again at the HBSS Summer Show. My singing voice has changed so much since I started having singing lessons with Laura, she makes singing and learning the technique both enjoyable & fulfilling, I would recommend her to anyone that has a passion for singing, whether it be for fun or profession! I hope to start singing professionally next year!

I have been singing since
the age of 5 and only over the past two years has my voice
come into its own - with the help of Heather's amazing teaching!
After going to several different teachers around the area,
I continued to struggle with the same vocal problems time
and time again and I was beginning to feel that my voice was
stuck in a rut. Whilst studying Musical Theatre at Bretton
Hall a friend on the course referred me to Heather, who was
able to address my problems and stretch my vocal abilities
more in a few lessons than any other teacher had over the
previous 15 years! Since I started working with Heather 2
years ago, I have gained a much stronger understanding of
my voice and with this feel much more confident in my ability
to tackle songs of any style/genre. After having been exposed
to the SLS technique and the amazing changes that Heather
can make in any person's voice, I've been inspired to join
the SLS organisation and I now work as a qualified Level 1
teacher.

Two years ago I wanted to
add singing to my guitar playing but I couldn't produce much
more than a breathy shaky sound. Heather has helped me get
through that and I'm now able to confidently sing lead vocals
on most of the songs I like playing and it's now a voice people
respect and want to hear. I got results and improvement on
the first lesson thanks to Heather's way of explaining some
very deeply researched and proven SLS techniques. Before the
lessons were available online I happily travelled from Bournemouth
to Cheshire once a month for lessons, they are worth it!

Before finding Heather I had a number of
singing tutors. When I met Heather, concepts that had previously
been explained that I never really understood seemed to just
fall into place. I have noticed that not only has my technique
massively improved, especially establishing a low range to rival
any alto’s, my confidence has grown. I have been having
private tuition with Heather for three years and since that
time I have acquired leading roles in amateur productions, worked
professionally and I am currently in the final stages of auditions
for highly acclaimed musical theatre schools in London. After
every lesson with Heather I feel as though I have grown as a
singer but also as a performer. The friendly and fun atmosphere
that Heather creates makes every class fun and relaxing to partake
in. I now not only think of Heather as a great singing coach
but also as a great friend.

I was given singing lessons as a gift for Christmas 2009, and enjoyed the trial lessons so much I wanted to continue! I have always liked the thought of being able to sing like the girls on the West End in London, and through lessons with Laura I have already seen a huge improvement in my vocal ability. With the help of Laura’s lessons I have been able to tackle songs I never thought I’d be able to sing before, even if some of the exercises to get me there seem a bit mad at the time! At the end of every lesson I feel I have achieved loads, which is why I happily travel for about 45 minutes each week to get to my lesson. I would recommend Laura to anyone; she is a great laugh and a great teacher, which means I feel comfortable singing in front of her!

My ambition was to write songs and to
do this I needed to sing. I had my doubts if I could sing
at all; having never really tried and the noises that used
to come out of my mouth confirmed my suspicion that I was
not a singer. Now my whole outlook has changed; Heather has
given me hope that I will able to sing effectively on stage.
I regard Heather as a miracle worker. With each lesson I can
feel the progress I am making and know that if I stick with
the program, all things are possible. Heather is truly amazing
and the speech level singing technique works for me.

I was very interested to find out about
the SLS technique, so when I met Heather and had my first
singing lesson I found it very different to the usual singing
lessons in Malta, she made it easier for me to reach the higher
and harder notes. Heather also helped me sing songs I would
never imagine singing! Which brings me to my brilliant first
place result in the Junior Song For Europe Final! I would
like to thank Heather from the bottom of my heart not only
for being a fabulous teacher but for being a great person
and dear friend!

Heather has been my singing
teacher since summer 2005. During that time my range, clarity,
vocal stamina, recovery time and confidence have all improved
dramatically. I can now comfortably sing songs which used to
kill me!! I cover a wide range of styles in my work and the
SLS technique Heather teaches can be applied to all of them.
Heather is also a very personable teacher who can inspire confidence
and has helped me through vocal difficulties and stressful times.
I would recommend Heather to anyone wishing to make the most
of their voice; she has the knowledge, skill and patience to
make a real difference.

I used to have singing lessons when I was
at university 2 years ago but I stopped these because I didn't
feel as though I was making any progress, I started lessons
with Heather in January and after the first lesson felt an instant
difference. Heather teaches in a way that enables you to understand
how to use your voice in the most effective way, she definitely
knows her stuff! I have and would recommend
her to anyone.

My first experience with
Heather Baker Singing Studios, happened at one of her Singing
Workshops, in Northwich Cheshire, during May 2006. I enjoyed
this, so much, that I decided to have private lessons with
Heather. Since then my voice and confidence has grown. I felt
that it was so rusty that a whole bottle of oil was needed
to make it polished again. Well, that rust has gone! I'm learning
a new method of singing. It has helped my Asthma, the breathing
has improved. I really enjoy my lessons with Heather. I'm
learning all the time and we always have a laugh!
